Forgive me for resurecting an old thread, but I think they should add some of them to the soundtrack too. BATB has 11 songs on it, Aladdin has only 8. They should add "Why Me?", "Arabian Nights Reprise", and "To Be Free" by the original Jasmine to the Aladdin Special Edition soundtrack. Granted 4 of those would be reprises, it's still good and it gives us more substance. That's my 2 cents on it. Add those three songs. And put the original Arabian Nights on it (not the edited version).

They couldn't add ANr into the actual movie itself, because they already used it at the end of King of Thieves and because it contradicts the sequels and series by saying that Al and Jas were married. Although it was fully animated before it was cut, so hopefully they can add it as a deleted scene. By original AN, do you mean the one they had when it came out, or this one? I doubt it, since in the rereleases Disney has been taking out more controversial parts (like the clouds in Lion King), not adding them back in. Someone just told me there's a Dutch voice actor (or someone claiming to be) going around telling people they're animating "To Be Free". I need to go find out which board that was on...

I was actually just refering to the soundtrack. The soundtrack for BATB has demos of "Be Our Guest" and "Beauty and the Beast" as well as a cut piece (score) that didn't even make it into the special edition. So I don't see why they couldn't put Arabian Nights Reprise, Why Me, and To Be Free all on the Special Edition Soundtrack!
Yes. with the "where they cut of your ear if they don't like your face, it's barbaric but hey, it's home!". I'm lucky cause that's the version on my tape version of the soundtrack, but I'm planning on getting the CD version of the soundtrack after the Special Edition comes out (assuming that they put something special on it) and I would really like that original version on it.
OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE THEY ARE REALLY GOING TO PUT IN "TO BE FREE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *regains composure* Sorry. Seriously, I do hope they are. And I hope that Lea is singing it. It wouldn't go well if she doesn't. I heard that "Morning Report" wasn't done by the original voice actors, which I think is rather pathetic. So they better have Lea record it if they're going to put it in. Does she have a fansite or something where we can ask her if she's recorded it?

Oh, okay, sorry. Got confused. ;D Still don't think they're putting the old version of AN on the soundtrack. They had the edited version on the copy of the soundtrack that came out last year, and I don't think a whole lot has changed in that time... Lea's official site seems to be down. ...and while poking around for other sites, I found out that Lea herself posts at alt.fan.lea-salonga! Yay! Guess you can ask her there.

Just checked it out. Several people have asked her point blank if she's recorded or heard anything about "To Be Free" for the platnum edition and she won't respond... hmmm, maybe she's sworn to secrecy? She also said on there that Disney didn't even try to get her for the two sequals. I'm really surprised, why wouldn't they try to get the original voice talents?

She also didn't seem to know whether there was even going to be an Aladdin special edition DVD... LOL!
Maybe they couldn't afford to get her for the sequels? Or else they just assumed she was too busy with other projects. (I think someone said she was doing Miss Saigon at the same time...)

I guess I just don't see why they wouldn't get Lea if they could. Even if they don't bother getting the same voice for the sequels, they could at least make it consistent in the movie itself.
Actually, I think they sound pretty similar; I had no idea there were two different people until I checked the credits. (*ducks bricks*)

Any idea how to ask Liz if she's recorded or been asked ro record "To Be Free"? I really do wish they would get Lea for it. I how Simba sounds on "Morning Report" (differnt voice actor) and I just think for the consistency of Aladdin they should just get Lea, otherwise don't bother with the new scene. If they're not going to do it right then they shouldn't do it at all (much as I would "To Be Free" on the soundtrack).
