This topic would make a good story. I heard that there might be some rough animation on the Aladdin dvd,which concerns this issue.For some unknown reason,she wasn`t put in the film.I don`t know what it is with Disney and mothers?!Aladdin talks about her in the 3rd movie,but he doesn`t say how she died.It must be some strange trend.Most Disney characters only have one parent.I don`t know why?

I guess to lend to the emotional arc. It goes in both ways, I guess. Mulan's relationship to her parents is a major issue; Aladdin's lack of parents becomes major in KOT.
Basically, Aladdin's mother and three friends were pulled from the film because Jasmine become more and more important. I'm just kind of worried about how the PoYB sequence is animated, and thus giving us a definite version of Aladdin's mother. To be honest, the woman in the original storyboard doesn't seem like a match for Cassim.

Did Aladdin's mother die of a sickness maybe? Or was it...something else, you think? I don't know. I mean, it could've been anything. And Sammy, I complete agree with what you said about Aladdin's mom in the original stroyboard not being a good match for Cassim. I also always thought that.

In KoT, I believe Aladdin says something along the lines of "She just couldn't make it." about his mother. I'm guessing the stress of being poor and trying to feed her son were just too much. A disease would be my first guess, with injury coming in close second and nervous breakdown/overworking in third.
Poor girl. ^^;

The only thing I remember that they said about his mom was that she died when Aladdin was a kid...

Her looks wouldn't bother me if not for King of Thieves. I still cannot see Cassim ever with that woman. I don't know if that is vanity or not.
Besides, she's in the film away; if they animate it and don't re-design her somewhat (even if it is only a special feature), won't people get a "huh" reaction?

Don't forget -- Aladdin looked a lot different in that picture, too.
Unless we're not on the same page here. We're talking about that picture of Aladdin kissing his mother goodnight, right?

Oh, I'm aware. I guess my interpretation of Cassim's wife is clouding my view of her actually being his wife. I mean, she's not even Danish!
