Rasoul's changes in "The Return of Malcho" and "Destiny on Fire" were what started me in liking him. Then I saw "Rider's Redux", and there's that kind of 'what the hell' reaction. It may be frustration that turned him against Aladdin there, but Rasoul never gets a closing to say that he was wrong. Maybe if he would have gotten that... it would make more sense.
King of Thieves, however... I know they were trying to not confuse people that hadn't seen the series, but what they did was confuse people that did see the series.
But wouldn't that have taken away from the urgency of Aladdin's defeat of Jafar? The fate of Agrabah is important, but the fate of Jasmine is important more (from the movie's POV, anyway).

Oh..well.Jasmine gets to take part in the action of the 3rd movie. At least, she gets to do something. She seems to be much more active in the series.By the way, what do you think of Aladdin? I thought that Aladdin vs Prince Charming would be a good topic.Jasmine and Aladdin are a very different pair. Princess/Street rat?! What does she see in him? They are a contemporary pair, but that`s what I like about them. I like that Aladdin is one of the most flawed heroes in Disney history. Greedy, manipulative, egotistical, in-sensitive (at times), criminal history (both himself and his family), boorish... all the traits that make him human. Jasmine likes the fact that Aladdin isn't in the same class as she is. She likes the oafishness- even getting grapes up the nose of Caliphs is fun for her. I do wonder if her inital attraction to him had more to do with him personally, or the fact that she was rebeling against her father. Would things have been different had they met under different circumstances? Okay, for example... say that Aladdin found Genie's lamp without ever meeting Jasmine (I could happen; her role was a coinsidence). Aladdin already wanted money and power; would he have wished for it? If he had, and perhaps traveled to the palace not under the guise of Prince Ali, but under the guise of wealth (like Daru, for instance), would they have fallen in love? It's hard for me to say.

Originally,Aladdin`s personality was modeled after Michael J. Fox,but then they changed it to Tom Cruise.I don`t see these actors in Aladdin`s personality. I don`t know. Glen Keane wanted him to be a character with alot of confidence. You can tell by the way Aladdin acts, when he`s being chased by the guards.I don`t think that the series or later movies remained true to Glen`s views of the character. When you have different people working on a character, things are bound to change. :-/The same thing goes for all the characters.Aladdin`s confidence is turned to arrogance. I`m sure that this isn`t what Glen Keane wanted.

Aladdin was arrogant in the first film as well. I'm actually refering to the stuff involving the guards, and especially as he starts becoming Prince Ali. Aladdin knows he's better than the guards, and acts as though he's better than Jafar. That's arrogance, if you ask me.

Actually, it was his looks that were based on Fox and Cruise, not his personality.

Aladdin does act like a jerk as prince Ali,but that`s because he`s pretending to be someone esle.At least, this was Glen`s idea.Aladdin tries to impress people by bragging, but he`s different when he`s being himself.I think that`s the way they wanted people to see him. I fell for it ! ;D This is how I see him as well.

First, this thread was about Jasmine, and now, it's about Aladdin...
Aladdin is my favorite Disney character because he's so...I don't know...fun? He's nothing like the other Disney heroes, and he's streetwise, man! I couldn't stand it when he was acting like someone else. That's actually my motto now: Remember, bee yourself! Wait, getting off-topic...yeah, Aladdin's great.
Then there's that Genie...funny in the first movie, good in the second movie, joking around too much in the third movie. ;D

Genie:
- Annoying in the original - Fantastic throughout ROJ and the series - De-characterized in KoT.

Not to spam the board or anything, but since this isn't related to Genie/Jasmine/Aladdin...
Speaking of inconsistancy, I watched "I Never Mechanism I Didn't Like", "Do the Rat Thing", and "A Sultan Worth His Salt" last night. The inconsistancy of Sultan is obsurd. They make him too dumb for the series own good sometimes.

They were all arrogant royal jerks and the sultan kept setting them up to talk to his daughter. I guess he figured if he was going to get in good with the sultan, he would have to act like those jerks he has seen. Then there is that whole thing with him not wanting to be himself and be someone else because he thought being himself was not good enough for her. But yeah, I don't know what I am talking about. I'm shutting up now

Favorite Jasmine moments
-Choking Abis Mal -Anytime her and Sadira get into it over Aladdin like in "Dune Quixote" -Her being jealous over everything in "The Flawed Couple." Gotta love the plummeting to my doom line. - Talking to Zorasto -When she becomes the scourge of the desert and has to fight Aladdin. -All of "Moonlight Madness", "The Secret of Dagger Rock","Fowl Weather", "Stinkerbelle" and "That Stinking Feeling." -Becoming one of the Gallifemmes or at least acting like it ...Like Sammy, I too think I am forgetting something obvious...

It still feels overly arrogant to me. Maybe it's just my POV.
But he's still arrogant before hand, when he manipulates Genie to get him out of the cave. He has a "I can't be beaten" attitude that carries from there throughout the series to KoT. It's foolish.

He`s a street rat. He lives by trying to out smart people.Aladdin does have a loose sense of morals, but he is a thief after all. He`s the sort of character that counts on cleverness rather than strength. They wanted him to be confident in any challenge. He has to believe in himself because no one else will.People call him a street rat.No one thinks that he is worth anything. The whole movie is about Aladdin trying to prove his worth as a human being. He has to be true to himself before he can do that.
